Bring Yourself into the Light!

It's that time in the week again.  The day we dedicate to realizing our fabulousness!

That's right - IT'S FABULOUS FRIDAYS!!!

This week's exercise is very simple.  But I have a feeling that for me, it's going to be one of the hardest.  This exercise is inspired by a post I wrote earlier this week; I Fooled You...I'm Actually a Fatty!!, and a couple of different conversations I had with friends. We talked about how ALL of us, even people we might see as slim and perfect-looking, often have something they want to cover up and hide; something that they see as imperfect.

So the exercise this week is to uncover those things we're always trying to hide away.

So, I'll go first.

At some point this week, when it is sunny and warm out, I am going to go sleeveless!  For me, this is kind of like declaring that I am going to go pantsless.

You see, outside of a bathing suit, I don't think I've gone sleeveless since I was like 12.  To walk around the streets with no sleeves to cover my upper arms will take extreme resolve on my part.

But I've been thinking.

These arms of mine.  The ones that I hate so much.  These are the arms that cradled my little baby the day she was born.  These are the arms that were LOADED with giant, purple bruises from the Heparin shots I received after my Cesarean.  These are the arms that my daughter still loves to bury her face in and cuddle into.  These big, squishy, cellulite-covered, stretch-marked arms have been used to give comfort and love to my friends by bestowing thousands of hugs.

There is a lot to love about these arms of mine.

So, I'm going to pick a lovely day in the coming week to go out and show them off.  And if people look at me and frown at my audacity in uncovering the imperfect pieces of me, then I'll just reach over and use these arms to hug my daughter.  (And mentally tell them to shove it!)

I invite you to join me!  Uncover a part of yourself that you've tried to hide from the world.  Realize all the good that part of you has done and allow it to see the light!

But remember the sunscreen - cause it's probably been a long time since it's seen the sun!  :)

Happy Fabulous Friday!!
